The Pierre-Percée lake

Date 25/08/2021

Do you know the little Canada?

We wanted to get a closer look at what the Pierre-Percée lake looked like. A few searches later, and we came across a nice hike soberly entitled the little canada.

Never mind, let's put on our shoes, and head for the lake! If you want to do it too, note that the departure is at the EDF dam.

Our walk starts with a passage in front of a high observation table, which allows us to have a very interesting view on the lake.

This lake looks very small because of its maple leaf shape (from which the name "Little Canada" is probably derived?), but it will take you no less than 8 hours to walk around it.

The walk will take you past pretty little beaches of fine sand, with a distinct red colour. All that was missing was a towel and a cocktail to make the change of scenery complete.

On our side, the meal was drawn from the bag.

You will also pass a pier for our fishing friends, or those who like to stroll on the water, and which is usually used as a parking area for motor homes in good weather.

The first few kilometres of the walk will take you constantly along the lake.

After the first third, it's time to say goodbye to the lake for a while and get some height.

The rest of the walk will be in the mountains. Even if the indications we followed were relatively clear, we had to remain concentrated not to lose the thread.

A path takes you along the Roches de la Xaveur. These rocks have been nicely named "The Elephant", "The Cat", "The Table and the Stool", or "The Counter Rock".

This journey will take you through the small village of Pierre-Percée. We took the opportunity to quench our thirst and regain some strength.

The rest of the walk will take place in the forest this time. A new change of scenery.

We were lucky enough to cross the path of one of the inhabitants of the forest who hurriedly climbed to the top, keeping an eye on us.

About 13 kilometres after our departure, we arrive again at the dam.

As much as the building is... a dam... and it is not necessarily very aesthetic, the surrounding landscapes are captivating.

As the dam is mainly made of rock, our reptilian friends do not hesitate to enjoy the good weather.

If I had to sum up this walk, I would say it was a lot of fun. Different terrains, different climates, different heights, we were served.

The trail game proposed by Visorando was rather clever, and was very nice to follow.

It allowed us to discover a part of this area, and to perceive the diversity which is hidden there.

To do or do again without hesitation!
