Disturbed nights

Are you planning to sleep?

Partying for 4 days also means resting from time to time, and that's not always easy. Party and rest don't necessarily go together, and keep in mind that we're talking about a marathon here. Remember that Defqon.1 stretches over several days.

Forget silence for 4 days

In the camp, the biggest party-goers will certainly not go to bed until the early hours of the morning, and will be active throughout the night. By this I mean that discussions will be going on, and not everyone will be whispering.

Some of your weekend roommates will be bringing along music. And here, be prepared for anything: from small pocket speakers to JBL Partyboxes, you'll be rocking out, day and night. Now it all depends on your personal appreciation of terror or GPF :)

Keeping with the theme, don't be surprised either to see campers coming with their own turntables and throwing an after-party after the after-party. Or, better still, come across a procession of campers, see below. It's another world at Defqon.1, and that's why we love going.

What about the purrs?

Tents and camping also mean no soundproofing. Even if you think you're in the clear once your tent door is closed, if you take too long to fall asleep, your neighbors will lull you to sleep with the gentle sound of their snoring. And I'm not just saying that because I slept next to a sawmill the first night. What the heck?

Are you a light sleeper?

For heavy sleepers or those able to fall asleep with their head in front of a loudspeaker at full volume, no worries. Once again, it's all in the experience of a bus journey. On the other hand, if you're a light sleeper, be warned that your sleep may be totally disrupted. So plan ahead, with traffic jams in mind, for example, if noise disturbs you.

If it's the light or heat that's bothering you, bring a mask or, better still, invest in a fresh&black tent. I assure you, it's a joy. The lights stay on all night on the camp and the sun rises early at the end of June. The tent will give you a dark night and a few extra minutes of sleep as soon as the sun rises that will be hard to refuse.
