Knossos palace

Date 14/05/2019

Visit of the archaeological site.

Today's visit begins in the western courtyard, where we find huge silos, which were probably used as storage places at that time.

This square was probably also the place where markets or gatherings were held.

As we make our way through the ruins, we meet one of the guardians of the place, a beautiful Peacock.

The visible palace is the result of the restoration work of Sir Arthur Evans who made many controversial reconstructions.

Although this place is very touristy (half a million people every year), it is also a very interesting place to sketch.

In conclusion, we were immersed in history for an hour or two.

For those interested in this universe, these ruins are fascinating, but I better advise you to visit the Heraklion museum to learn more.

If not, let professionals guide you there.
