Matala

The Baba cool city!

Let's be honest, this place is very popular.

Compared to the quietness of other places like Mount Odigitria for example, here the cars have taken up residence and the car park was full when we passed by.

No matter, we are tourists too, we find a place.

To get to Matala beach, we have to go through... Matala. Well done Sherlock.

There are a number of shops in the streets of this town where you can find a bit of everything.

A very "baba cool" atmosphere floats in the air. Many artists have passed through here and decorated the streets over the years. The alleys of this village are very famous because they are very colourful.

As luck would have it, on the outskirts of the village we find a painting of "Red beach" on a wall with a big arrow. We walk in this direction.

Once again, we take the high road. As we turn around we take the time to appreciate the view of the Matala cliffs which plunge directly into the sea.

We pass a walker who has obviously given up and turned back, finding the path too long.

Being eager for adventure, we continue our walk and... The show is on.

If I had to sum up Matala, I would say that it's a good mix between quietness, zenitude and rest.

After our round trip towards the red beach, we stayed for long minutes watching the waves crashing on the beach, lost in our thoughts.

A must do!
