The Red Beach

Date 17/05/2019

Is it red?

The access to the red beach is from Matala. The access is very well indicated.

You will walk on a small path marked by the footprints of the different walkers who have walked on it.

During your trip you will come across piles of stones, probably collected and piled up over time by different hikers.

By the way, if anyone has an explanation or knows what this means, I would be happy to hear it.

We passed two people sitting cross-legged, palms up, thumbs and forefingers together in meditation.

The quietness of this place is not a myth. We move forward silently so as not to disturb them.

And suddenly, from the top of the mountain we are on, we can see the famous red beach below.

Contrary to its name, this beach is not made of red sand, but it is still made of very dark sand.

Our tour will not go all the way down (caught by the time), but if you go down there you will find a very quiet, isolated beach, a very unusual cocktail bar and a perfect place for snorkeling because of the clear water.

Ah... one last thing: don't be surprised to find naturists there. The area is very secluded, so it's the perfect place to sunbathe with your buttocks in the air. If this is your case, go for it!
